As the former Chief Justice of the Texas Court of Appeals in El Paso, Texas, Chief Justice Barajas, as well as his wife Cathy, earned the privilege of being interred at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas. Since 1851, the Cemetery has been the burial place for soldiers and founders of the Republic and State of Texas, elected state officials, jurists and other prominent men and women. Culturally, the Cemetery is unique because it represents every aspect of Texas history from European Colonization to modern day Texas politics. Buried there are Signers of The Texas Declaration of Independence, Governors, Lieutenants Governors, Members of the Texas Legislature, United States Senators, United States Representatives, State Jurists, noted Texas Authors, distinguished Texas Rangers. American Revolutionary War Veterans, among others as approved by a concurrent resolution adopted by the Texas Legislature.

Directions to cemetery:
From Interstate 35, take the 8th through 3rd Streets exit. Turn east onto 7th Street, the drive six blocks and turn left on Navasota Street. The Cemetery, located on the right, is open Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
